Dementia Map Is Brought To You By:
Lori La Bey the founder of Alzheimer’s Speaks describes herself as a frustrated daughter out to shift dementia care from crisis to comfort. Her mother Dorothy lived with dementia for 30 years, and her mother’s disease changed Lori’s life forever. From day one, she saw the need for a universal dementia resource directory. When she formally entered the dementia field, in 2008, Lori focused on raising voices at all levels around the world. Throughout her mother’s illness, Lori continued to struggle to find the support, and resources her family needed. It was her dream to develop an expansive directory. She understood the critical nature of having 24/7 access to valuable and actionable dementia resources for those diagnosed and those who care for or serve them.
In November 2020, Lori partnered with Dave Wiederrich the founder of JADCOM Media LLC. Dave had reached out to Lori after hearing her repeated comments on Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio about the need to create a dementia resource directory. Dave applied his passion for improving the world and in short fashion, he took Lori’s vision for a global resource directory and designed Dementia Map Global Resource Directory an easy-to-access and use website. Their partnership complemented one another and allowed them to create something new for the world of dementia. Their goal was to grow the site slowly to ensure it was meeting both the public and professional needs. The feedback has been amazing from all sides.
In June of 2024, Lori became the sole owner and CEO of Dementia Map, as Dave refocused on JADCOM Media and his other web properties. Lori will be forever grateful to Dave for his belief in her vision and for bringing it to life and she is thankful for his continued friendship and guidance.
Lori and Alzheimer’s Speaks have been recognized by: Oprah as a “Health Hero”, Maria Shriver as an “Architect of Change”, Dr. Oz and Sharecare as the “#1 Influencer Online for Alzheimer’s”, AARP MN as an “Inspiring Leader and Disruptor”, and the National Institute of Dementia Education endorsed her and gave her their “Seal of Excellence.”
Lori is known as a top influencer in the arena of dementia and a passionate and inspiring keynote speaker whose voice has lifted individuals and organizations around the world. She shines a light on new and existing products, services, tools, and information that are needed by so many throughout the globe.
La Bey believes we can’t make true integrated and sustainable change unless we hear from people at all levels. So, that had to include the true experts: those diagnosed and their families and friends who support them. They are the ones in the trenches living with the disease. They are the ones adapting to “new normals” and finding out how to live graciously alongside dementia while ensuring the quality of life is not pushed aside.
